About Magic Mama
Like most Floridians, I'm originally from Upstate New York. I've been in Florida for over 20 years now, and I have the best son I could have ever dreamed of (pictured with me above). He inspires and amazes me daily.
I attended the Crealde School of Art after High School, but at that time I just couldn't believe in myself enough to make any kind of living out of art. I ended up taking a looooong string of jobs in things like retail sales & management, eldercare, insurance claims, call centers.... you get the idea.
I have always had something creative going on throughout all of the jobs I had. I took on some advertising and promotional design, created newsletters, did photography, I learned to knit & crochet while I worked in eldercare. and I picked up drawing in the jobs where I was stuck in a cubicle. I'm currently still working in a cubicle, but my current cube-job is more flexible than most, so I have been able to really sink my teeth into my art over the past several months. I've practiced and improved quite a bit, and I've had a lot of inspiration and encouragement from Artist Ben Kwok of Bioworkz.com (check his stuff out - it's amazing!) Ben does a lot to encourage and inspire the rest of the artistic community, so I don't mind giving him a plug here. Just being able to share my work and have it 'out there' in the universe has been a great motovating factor as well. The end goal is to create full-time and get out of the cube, but for now I'm content to have time to create at all. (Baby steps)
I'm a one-woman show, so everything you see on this site or my social media pages has been hand-crafted by me unless otherwise noted. (I do sometimes share other artists' work, but I note that it isn't mine, and try to link back to the source whenever possible.) I maintain all social media, I do all the creating, editing, posting, and everything else - so if you email or message me, it will not be some 'social media specialist' that responds. It's me. I love connecting with my audience, please feel free to reach out!
So that's me in a nutshell.
I would love to hear from you, hear about you, and find out how you found me! If you'd like to keep up with my works as they are created, feel free to click the tiny buttons below to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Tumblr. This is my first time building a web site, too - so if you see something wonky, please let me know! <3
